Bad news first. About 1 or 2 weeks ago, the All-In-One HP PC we’ve had for maybe 2 years started to experience a failure with the internal hard drive.
Unfortunately, that drive was the one holding the Window 7 OS. Which means what we have currently is…
A giant brick of a PC.
Now for the good news.
As a result of this and the fact that I have a Cyber Essentials Class…
I get to build one.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the currently in-progress DCC Mk.1 PC.
The case arrived just today and I immediately got to working on installing some leftover parts. The 2 parts (which are disc drives) that look less black than the rest of the case are taken from an old Dell PC I that we got long before we moved into the apartment I currently live in. The real name of the case is “Vortex V3”. I chose to name it something else.
The motherboard, CPU, and RAM are on their way soon. I’ve yet to decide on a hard drive. The total price (minus the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and Windows 10) came to about $260 so far. The aim of the project was to match the specs and beat the price of a PC that my dad looked up, which was about $1,400. So far, the price is half that and the specs are matching nearly perfectly.
I can’t wait for this project to be completed.
